Thai New BusinessClass Seat

Sun Sep 14, 2014 9:33 am

Hi to you all,

according to THAI's web-page, only some selected aircrafts are equipped with "newly installed shell seats offer 60 inches (five feet) of stretch-out space, with 170 degrees of recline for sleeping".

Any idea how many a/c have been so for updated? I am very flexible on the date of travel and flight times, so I can choose between the A330-300, A330, B777-300 or B777-200/300; which a/c does most likely have the new cabin?

ThanX for any help! Chris

The 777-300ERs that are new have full flat business class seats. The A380s have a seat similar to the 777-300ERs that were recently delivered. The 787s have the same seat that United uses on its 2 class international planes.

The A330s and 777s with the 60 inch pitch angled business class seat are ok. Better than a regional business class seat, but not like the modern full flat seats.

I am not sure if they are all that "new". But I think all of TG's B777-200s and B777-300s are equipped with these angled 'shell' business class seats with 60 (or almost 60)-inch pitch. They are generally fine the way angled business class seats can be, but bear in mind that the -200s are 6 abreast and -300s are 7-abreast. I have no idea why, but then mysteries abound with TG.

The newer A330-300s (shown as just A330 in the TG online booking engine) have seats similar to the B772/773s. The older A330-300s (shown as A330-300 in the booking engine) have normal recliner-type seats with lower pitch, and one more row of business class seats. Both are 6-abreast.

As Roseflyer said above, the B777-300ER and A380-800 have full-flat seats. They are staggered and can be very private (especially the window seats) - these are probably the best ones to snag if you have a choice. The 787 seats, while full flat, are a step down from these ones.

Be warned about tail swapping. You never really know what plane will show up on your route as far as I have heard. You might think that you will get one configuration, yet when you check in, they have switched it.

The routes that are always scheduled with the same a/c are consistent. But, the routes where there are multiple a/c types are generally not. I'm assuming you are on the latter, since you have a choice of a/c.

I believe all the fixed shell Business Class seats are fitted with AVOD IFE. I am not certain about the recliner Business Class seats on the A330-300s.
