SQ A380 Product - Any Update?

Wed Oct 15, 2014 3:22 am

Hello A.net,

After the recent buzz about ultra-luxury first class products following the SQ suites trip report (and mini-scandal), I came to the realization that this product is already almost 7 years old! Pretty hard to believe.
While SQ came out with a refurbished "regular" F and J product on the 77W, are there any planes to give the Suites on the A380 a refresh? FYI, there is a marketing photo on the suites webpage showing the seat with updated leather and patterns found on the new 77W product.

I am currently booked to fly JFK-FRA-SIN at the end of march in Suites (don't mean to brag) and was wondering if I could expect such an update.

Thanks!

Singapore Airlines will introduce a new cabin product with the arrival of the new A380s in 2017.

I'm afraid I don't have an answer, but;

No worries man, if you write a trip report all is forgiven.

Let's not mention the poor state of the 777-200ER
Where's the passion gone out of the airline industry? The smell of jetfuel and the romance of taking a flight....

I wonder why that trip report went viral, I had at least 3-4 non-aviation friends send that link to me. Especially because as you said SQ Suites have been flying around for nearly a decade at this point. Dropped by SQ online/crowd marketing perhaps?

I'm also curious about the so called 'scandal'. Mentioning SQ and 'scandal' in one sentence should definitely trigger everyone's attention. Next to that, I'm also a bit surprised why that trip report went viral, as I've read numerous (and sometimes even better) trip reports about SQ Suites before (infact, it doesn't even wow me anymore; me patiently waiting for the first Etihad Residence trip report). I do hope however that SQ will update their suites. I've never liked the design, as it's too much 'plastic fantastic' and lacking a strong, coherent look. Especially compared with their updated F- and C-class, which looks much more refined and sophisticated. Ofcourse the Suites aren't relatively new anymore and other Legacies have come up with a much more elegant product for a F-class

Great to hear! Hopefully I can regain my mileage balance by then - given miles are still what theyre worth today.

Google: "singapore airlines trip report plagiarism"

and, I'll see what I can do. Has been quite a while since I last wrote one.

Yeah, Im not sure. Maybe reddit + a pretty nicely laid out report with pretty high quality photos and unique writing style?

Anyways, thanks for all the feedback!
