Recommendation For LAX-TLV
Thinking of going to TLV in May. Have narrowed down choices to AA/US, BA or LX. AA/US would be thru PHL, BA thru LHR and LX thru ZRH. Anyone have any experience or information on the ease of transit thru these airports for the connections both coming and going? Also, any information on the Business Class service, for these flights, on these airlines would be appreciated. I have considered LY as an option but availability dates don't fit my schedule.
My favorite airport is the one I'm flying to!

BA would offer the opportunity to fly the A380 if that is a consideration - and then from LHR to TLV you will have a choice of either a long haul 772 or a mid-haul A321: both of which have full lie flat beds and club world service. I've not flown the mid haul A321 but friends who have like the J class a lot.
One thing about the BA A380s is that their J cabin is split between the main and the upper deck so they have a smaller, more personal feel, than those A380s that have say the upper deck dedicated entirely to J.
You would arrive and depart from LHR T5 so that would make life simpler, though do allow plenty of time for connecting as security on TLV flights is always tight and takes longer than normal connections - but I guess that will be the same wherever you connect.

I think TK flues the A330 on one of their IST-TLV flights. If you want an all widebody experience, that may be a good way to go.

Yes TK is a good option from LAX via IST with great business product.

Without a doubt I would choose LX. Swiss just has an amazing product all around from food to the seat.

Yes excellent choice.
Many great trip reports here to confirm.
TK has 4-5 daily IST-TLV flights, but even if your flight is not widebody its narrow body tends to offer proper business seats not typical European style of only leaving middle seat open.

You must not be familiar with Swiss narrowbody fleet. Recently announced modern seating is no different than Ryanair pitch. LX does not utilize large planes on all TLV service. Route also sees 320/321.

On overnight flights, if a connection is involved, I like to get it done on this side of the Atlantic, so you don't have to connect in Europe half asleep. Did you consider AC, LAX-YYZ-TLV-YYZ-LAX?
The connection through YYZ is great, can easily be done in under an hour now. The return YYZ-LAX is pre-cleared, and now procedures have changed so you don't have to transfer your baggage through US Customs at YYZ any more.
Right now, the cheapest round trip in Y is USD 941.00, or in J USD 2896.00 taxes in. There is also a Premium Economy fare of USD 1858.00 as well. But premium economy is only offered on the YYZ-TLV-YYZ portion on the B787.

connecting through PHL isn't bad. PHL has good customs, so I often prefer to enter through PHL and connect. The aircraft will be an ex-US so the business class will not really compare to what you'd get on BA. BA is going to give you the best service hands down, it also breaks down the flight times really nicely. Then again my philosophy, when you can go direct do it. So use that LY flight that all of us Chicagoians are so jealous.

I would go with LX, as they have great flat beds on all legs of the route (including ZRH-TLV, unless that has changed lately). Even if they have the "European business class", the soft product is likely to be good. Their second meal service on longhaul flights tends to be very poor, but otherwise the catering is great.
I personally tend to avoid any connection in the Eastern US as 1) you'll have to be in domestic "first class" for several hours rather than in a proper international business class, and 2) it adds hours of travel time. It's also nice to clear customs at your home airport rather than mid-way through your journey where you could be subject to delays.
