8 Hour Layover BKK

Sun Nov 09, 2014 6:08 am

Hi all,

I need some advice. End of November I am traveling on C from Perth to Vienna via Bangkok. Unfortunately I have a 8 hour layover in BKK and I would like to use this time to rest, sleep and relax as good as possible (so no city trip).

May someone recommend lounges, hotels, quiet day rooms,...?

Arrival: TG484 at 15:05 in BKK
Departure: OS026 at 23:55
Class: (C)
Status: *Gold

Thanks so much in advance.

You have access to TG's Royal Silk and Royal Orchid Lounges (there are a number of them sprinkled around; while reasonably comfortable, all offer pretty similar, albeit basic, amenities) as a Star Alliance Gold member. As your onward flight isn't on TG, I don't think you have access to the Royal Orchid Spa (which offers complimentary massage to TG's F & C class pax). A visit to SQ's Silver Kris Lounge wouldn't be a waste of time either as it has much better hot food and drinks than TG's lounges, but has no showers, which TG has.

If you need a dayroom for a couple of hours and don't want to exit the airport, there's really only Louis Tavern. It's not cheap though. A couple of hours costs the same as one night's hotel room in Bangkok.

There's also the airport Novotel, which is the nearest landside hotel connected to the airport via tunnel. Rates are not cheap either. You can pre-book, but from what I'd read elsewhere, you can apparently get discounts just turning up on the day but obviously that's a risk.

The Novotel is expensive. There are several small hotels within 10 minutes of the airport with shuttle service. Google hotels at Bangkok airport. I do not know if they have day rates, but they are not that expensive.

Had the same problem...

With the extra perks (C-Class, G*A-status) you can use fasttrack, Priority Immigration etc. and maximize the time!

I can recommend the BS PREMIER (not the BS RESIDENCE!) at BKK - very close to the airport, small swimming pool, clean rooms: http://www.bspremierairporthotel.com/hotel/index.php
