Far too few!

But my first 747 flight was on this one ZK-NZZ a 219B leased by Airtours International from NZ on a roundtrip MAN - BGI in 1998

Lufthansa B747-400 SFO-FRA-BLR and BLR-FRA (where I misconnected and ended up on a United 777, but was scheduled to be on another 744 on FRA-LAX)

Qantas B747-400(ER?) LAX-SYD and return.

And to repeat my question from the other thread, if we're just counting operators I've flown on United and Northwest/Delta post merger, but I've never been on one of their 747s.

UA - 741
NW - 741, 744
JL - 744
NH - 744, 741
BA - 744

My first 747 flight must have been around 1977, and would probably have been on Northwest Orient. My last 747 flight was JL in 2007. I flew 747's many times in that 30 year period, all with those five airlines as far as I remember. My early flights were actually domestic transcons, with the later flights all being transpacific and one transatlantic thrown in on BA.

RE: How Many 747 Operators Have You Flown?

Mon Nov 17, 2014 9:23 pm

It's kinda sad how few 747s I've flown on since...I dunno...puberty.

When I was a kid, we'd take SR 743s across the pond regularly. I also took PA's 741/742 a few times. And KL 743 and 744 once or twice. And we took the NW 744 to Australia in 1993 or so or so via the old OSA (which was a dump). Same trip took us on an NZ 742 from SYD to AKL.

Since age 18, TW 742 JFK-MAD-JFK, UA 742 on ORD-SFO, UA 744 on SFO-ORD (that was supposed to be my first 777 trip and was the only time I was ever disappointed to see a 747 sitting at the gate), AR 742 on MIA-EZE-MIA, UA 744 SFO-SYD-SFO, BA 744 SFO-LHR-SFO.

Since 1996, most of my transatlantic flights (for which I'd had an unbroken 747 record) were on 777s, leaving aside that one SFO-LHR-SFO trip and one DTW-LGW-DTW trip on a NW DC-10 in 2002 (which I think was my last ever DC-10 flight). I did one A340 and one A380. Since 2008, my only transpacific flight was on a 788. I have never crossed an ocean (except to Hawaii) on a 767 or A330. Otherwise, I just have a long and depressing list of 737s, 757s, and A320 variants under my belt with the occasional MD-80 or 717 thrown in for variety.

I'm not sure if I'll ever have the chance to fly aboard the 747 again. I don't fly that often and when I do it's usually domestic. Although SFO still has quite a 747 presence, many of them are gone. In the last few years, PR, CX, CI, SQ, JL, NH, and BR have withdrawn their 747 service in lieu of the 77W. As more and more airlines withdraw their 747s from service and as I become more and more disinclined to travel on very long-haul routes, it looks less and less likely. I knew this when I stepped off that BA 744 from LHR back in 2008. I remember pausing briefly at the door, turning around, and giving her an affectionate pat on the hull. "Thank you, Your Majesty, Queen of the Skies, for having safely carried me to so many places." Maybe I'll pick up the odd domestic leg some time in the future.

Oops, my bad. Seems I had the LH number of 11 on my mind when I wrote that. The 3 upcoming BA flights are BOS-LHR, LHR-SFO and MIA-LHR, which will bring the number to 12 BA 744s.

My last was a New Zealand 744, some 11 years ago now.
Others are, Qantas, the entire fleet except VH-EBT the company's first 743,

Thai 742 and 744,
KLM 742, 742 sud and 744
Swissair 742
Ansett 743,
Air Pacific 744.
Alia Royal Jordanian 742
American 747sp,Air Namibia 747sp,
And I got to fly in the jumpseat in a Flying Tigers Freighter.

NZ (-400 definitely, -200 most likely)
QF (-200, -300, -400, -400ER)
CO (-200)
TG (-400)
BA (-400)

I want to say UA, but I would have been vastly too young to be definitive on that.

I have only been on one 747, F-GITE with Air France MIA-CDG.

I should add more before the old lady is confined to the history books, maybe when BA refits their 747s I could hitch a ride and see how they look.

Well said and I couldn't agree more

But it is on the to do list of many I am sure. Problem is, only LH flies them as passenger version at the moment. Soon Air China and Korean Air.
And we get a couple more next year, so some more routes for the 748 and bigger chance to fly it.

Tonight it will be 747-400 flight #257 for me
