A Place To Sleep During The Day At SIN?

Wed Dec 03, 2014 10:12 am

I will be visiting SIN in February, I will be arriving early in the morning and, as most hotels, mine do not allow check ins until 2 pm. Checking Changi's website I learned that they have an airport hotel, from what it says there, it appeared to me that you can show up at any time and get a room/bed; not sure that's correct, but even if it is:

1) Is there a way to make a reservation so I don't risk not having where to stay?
2) They mention that the hotels are airside, so once you go through customs/immigration there is no way to go back. How would that work if I have checked bags?

Thanks in advance.

As you've noticed, the catch is with your bags. If you were hand lugagge only, you could go straight from your gate to the hotel. With bags, you could leave them on the carousel then hope that no one steals them, and then go and find them in lost property later. Maybe email the hotel and ask what the procdure is.

At any rate, I think the hotel is quite expensive. There are also free lounger chairs scattered around the airside area too.

The obvious other choice is to book a hotel for the previous night (maybe even a cheap hostel if you are desperate to sleep), so you can go straight from the airport to a bed for a few hours. Some hotels let you check in early for 1/2 the daily rate (I did this at the Hyatt in Manila when my flight landed at 4am). Some hotels also let you use the facilities before your room is ready. If you have a nice hotel, leave your bags at the desk, then go and sleep on a deck chair by the pool for a few hours.

The final option, leave your bags at the hotel, fight your tiredness, and go out sightseeing. There's plenty to do in Singapore.

Yes you can reserve the transit hotels online.

Just make sure you pick and show up at the correct one as there are 3 of them around the airport.

Just go to Geylang.

I spent the night in Changi flying in from Phuket at 10pm and had a flight to Taipei at 7:40am. As long you don't leave the gate area, there are numerous comfortable lady boys, errrrr Lazy boy chairs all over. Just have to find one because there are a lot of Chinese people that stay overnight for an early morning flight to Mainland China.

Depending on the price you spend for your regular hotel in SIN, it may just be cheaper to request to pay for an earlier check in, or just book the night before as well (but make sure to let them know you will no show and arrive early next morning, so that they keep your room!)
