Hi all!
Hey my upcoming trip is going to give me 3 to 4 hours layovers at MUC and FRA. So I was wondering what are the best places to have something to eat at the airports? MUC would be breakfast. I got LH flight from HEL so I don't expect to have proper breakfast in the plane. Then I got 4 hours at FRA to kill so lunch would be good in there before the short hop to LCY.

In MUC you can go to Airbräu. It is a brewery, beer garden and restaurant in the Munich Airport Center shopping area just outside of Terminal 2 (it can be reached from Terminal 1 as well).

Have a Weisswurst, Pretzel and a Weissbier. A Bavarian classic.

In FRA I recommend the McDonald's in Terminal 2 right next to the observation platform. It has a great view over the tarmac and runways 25L and 25C.

Looked at their site and my flight arrives at 7:50 local so I have perfect timing for breakfast in there. Flying LH so Terminal 2 for me.

They closed that observation platform for renovation opening spring 2015. So I need to check if it's open or not.

They've closed the food plaza along with the observation deck, so no McD's for the time being. That's probably what you meant anyway. However, you might have the time to take a bus tour of the apron: http://www.frankfurt-airport.com/con...irport/en/enjoy/airport-tours.html
As for eating, the Marché in T1 arrivals is alright. You can also buy food and groceries at tegut (supermarket) one further level down, the best way there is via T1C arrivals. Alternatively, try the Rewe by the long-distance railway station.

There is also a casino at FRA if that is your thing... I once had a 6 hr layover and walked into the casino as soon as it opened... Put in 5 Euros and wakled away with 85 in a matter of minutes... The look on the cashier's face was priceless... I enjoyed the rest of my layover nevertheless

The last 2 years my wife and I have had several hours layover at FRA en route from Italy to JNB and we have had an enjoyable time at Kuffler & Bucher in T1 just opposite McD. Nice cold beer, Jaegermeister and tequila and a good view of the aircraft movements either sitting at the bar or at a table in the restaurant. Good food too!
After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF...

What airline will you be flying in FRA? If it's BA, you would use Terminal 2. After passport control head left and you will find a japanese restaurant (as japanese as you can get for German standards at least) called Mosch Mosch. There is the same restaurant in the Terminal 1 A Schengen pier, pretty at the end near Gate A24 or so. Decently priced for an airport and acceptable food in my opinion. I would go for that.

Weisswurst and Pretzel is okay... but a Weissbier in the morning?

If some one have info about the non-schengen side of FRA >T1. I would like to know is it any good for plane spotting etc...

There are several "non schengen" parts in T1, basivally the one in the A pier (which is called Z non schengen), in the B pier, and C pier. All are linked somehow, so in theory you could get from one to the other, but it's quite a trek. So basically it depends where you are flying from.
The good news is: All offer good apron views. Espscially B is great, as there are huge windows, and they overlook the runways. Also, nice carriers park at B: Mostly NOT Lufthansa, but SQ, AC, TK, CA, NH, and even a few more exotic like LA, ET, QR, AT and so on.
If you are in Z you can go to the gates in the sector 50+ which is brand new and offers a lot of huge windows and view over one complete pier (where usually you will only see LH/OS/UA planes, as well as the TP/SK/A3 planes. However from there you have no views to the runway.
C depends of the gates. The gates LH use are usually far away, almost at T2, but good views here as well, and you could even see more exotic planes that are parked in front of T2 and the runways as well.
If it's really about plane spotting, even if you remain air side only, Frankfurt is pretty good no matter where you are in T1 non schengen.
