Cheap A380 Out Of The US

Wed Jan 21, 2015 4:38 am

My next traveling goal is to fly on an A380. I live in OKC, so I can make it to any major airport in the United States in half a day or less. I am trying to find the best bang for the buck, even though I will be non reving. Yes, cheap I know! So whatever your suggestions on Airlines/Routes, etc. I hope to do this on a weekend in the spring if possible. Thanks for the help!

If this thread is somewhere else, I apologize. Please direct me.

Shelby

My first A380 flight was a redemption on SQ JFK-FRA, using my AC miles. SQ25 is the daily rotation.

That was a really enjoyable flight - fantastic service. Probably one of the easier ones to manage in a weekend - shame you don't have more time. Otherwise you could try BA IAD-LHR - service won't be quite as good as SQ however.

Not sure what class you're traveling in - if you're in Y, upper deck is the way to go.

Try the LH IAH-FRA. There always seem to be a lot of empty seats in Business and Economy.

If you are non-reving do you have a certain airline or alliance that you have to stick to?
Let's fly! Unless it's on a CRJ 200, then I'll stay down here.

JFK-FRA-JFK (SQ 25/26) with SQ usually has very good prices all-year round, usually one of the cheapest way to go from JFK to Germany. And as CPDC10-30 said, they have fantastic service. If you can, try to get a seat on the upper deck because I feel like service is more personal and the storage bins on the side are very handy.

One of the most memorable and enjoyable flights I had was on SQ 25. Excellent service from the crew.

Nope. ID90 is a hell of a thing. I always nonrev with UA because my parents are UA employees, but I have nonreved on WN, DL, and more recently, QF.
When wasn't America great?

Since you're part of the UA family, you might want to do the IAH-FRA flight on LH. It's going to be ZL. HOWERVER, you will have relatively high taxes out of FRA.

I haven't checked this yet, but if OZ flies the 380 out of the west coast, that might be the best option. It's bit more because it's ZM but the taxes are less and you get a longer ride to an interesting part of the world.

Least expensive might be OZ to ICN (if they fly that route), then UA back home via SFO.
