Last BA744 Going To MIA - When Will It Be?

Sat Jan 31, 2015 11:14 am

Hi there.

Since I have a strong bond with BA's 744s and being on them enroute to Miami, I was wondering how much longer they're gonna fly this route with the current metal before replacing it with something dull like the A380.

I can't fly to MIA this year, that's certain so I hope they don't phase them out this year already.

Does anybody have some insight on how much longer I'm going to be able to take the Queen of the Skies?

Thanks

Sheesh, BA retires a few old frames and suddenly people act like the 747 is a rarity!

They still have 40+ of them. Relax!

We're probably talking years here. Some are even getting cabin refits. So they'll be around even longer.

Whilst I agree with you, I have no doubt that the Airbus / Whale-jet fanboys have already reported you to the authorities

The a380 replaces the 747 on LHR-MIA in October 2015.

Presumably only one of the two flights, yes? So there will be 1x380, 1x744 on MIA for W1516?

Actually it's on both flights.

Oh no         That's horrible.... Damn...

That's what I feared... it won't be long until it happens.

Why would you get that idea? As long as more don´t taxi past their designated point and hit buildings, they will remain with the fleet for a few years to come.

If you mean only MIA and wish to fly on a BA 744 whenever you go there you could always fly somewhere else in the US and connect. If done, right, it could even be cheaper.

It seems most of you are missing the OP's point. He is perfectly aware that BA aren't retiring the 747; he wants to fly on one one more time to MIA.

I also have a great personal history with BA 747s to MIA and it will be a sad day for me too when the era ends, much as I love the A380.
