Nice, France For Couple Of Hours

Thu May 28, 2015 9:34 pm

I might be connecting in few days throuhg NCE and was wondering if there is anything to do in or around the airport for couple of hours. I know I won't have that much time, but I'd rather make the most out of it.

Thanks

Quoting bahadir (Thread starter):

You can walk or bike on the water in NCE ( it is accessible from the airport). It is very Nice and you more or less see the town that way.
Lufthansa: Einfach ein bisschen besser.

There is not much to see or do inside the airport. The usual stuff, a few shops. If you have a few hours only, take a walk along the iconic Promenade des Anglais towards the city center. The Prom starts at the airport. It's about 5 km. Or rent a bike as lesfalls suggested above. Taxis are overpriced in Nice but if you want to see the old town you'll probably need to use them. The area called Les Moulins north of the airport is not recommended.

The fare is 6 euros, line 98 goes to downtown every 20 minutes, taxis charge 30 or so.

There is an even cheaper option by taking the local bus, costing 1.50EUR if I remember it correctly. However, if you are short on time the express bus is better.

That's right. But they use the slow and congested Rue Californie. One of the regular buses used to stop at Terminal 1, IIRC line 23. I used it a few times -crowded, slow and a bit inconvenient if you carry luggage. But if you have all the time..They might have changed the routes as I can't find the bus stop at T 1 anymore but on the Promenade in front of the terminal.
In addition, when in France remember this:
"Starting Saturday 23th May : SOCIAL MOVEMENT on Airport lines 98 / 99 !"

Also, next to the airport is Parc Phoenix (basically across the Prom)

Never been there though, could be interesting if you're a nature lover

Took bus #23 in April when I visited Nice. As you say, it doesnt leave from the terminals. The bus stop is a short walk across the terminal/access roads.

Planned on taking it when flying back home, however there was a strike (surprise, surprise  ) that day, so no buses. Had to fork out €35 for the short taxi ride to NCE.

Anyway, I really liked Nice. It is a beautiful city you live in.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and took the 99 bus from the station as I was coming in from Italy; I had a couple of hours and found the prom easiest to get to kill a few minutes..

Remember the 6 Euros is exact change of course
