Best Airport Bookstore?

Fri Jul 17, 2015 2:56 am

Best one I've been in is in MKE: old style, creaky wooden shelves, great collection of books of all ages . . . any one been there? Anyone have a different favorite?

Agree with MKE bookstore.

Also high on the list:

MSP
SFO Compass Books (though it is closed for renovations)
LAX Terminal 7 just opened a Book Soup

I have never come across an 'ideal' airport bookstore. Many good ones, but none 'ideal'.

I loved the old hobby shop that was on the roof of an LHR terminal way back in the mid-nineties ... I can't remember it's name. It would be the basis of my ideal bookstore. Add to it an extensive range of imported and latest-issue aviation and general interest magazines and newspapers and a decent inshore coffee shop, and I would go out of my way to use that airport!

Slightly off-topic: I wish all major airports had a music/movie store stocking a decent range of CDs and DVDs. Kind of like the JBHiFi chain here in Australia... Hmmmm, now there's a thought! Memo to the management of JBHiFi: open airport branches!

Cheers,

As do I. Half of my collection of Jane's All the Worlds Aircraft volumes have come from MKE. I pick up a book or two every time I fly through for Oshkosh. Fingers crossed for some good ones this week...

I hope I have enough connection time at the airport to visit it when I go in September.
