BA Avios Awards

Thu Oct 29, 2015 2:44 pm

Dear All, hope someone can help : I am booked on BA MAD-LHR-SIN-LHR-MAD round trip but am thinking about ditching the last leg (LHR-MAD) and staying in London. Will I still be awarded BA Avios for the first three legs ? (MAD-LHR-SIN-LHR) or if I do not complete my booking will it flag up as a no show thus resulting in no avios award ? My feeling is you get rewarded for flights flown.

Any info appreciated - thanks

You will still get awarded your miles. I did a similar thing last year where I did not fly the last sector of a multi-segment ticket, and I still got all the miles I did actually fly.

Yes that's what I thought - thanks so much. It's only a mileage run and there are some really great fares ex MAD !

Make sure you don't check any bags. The agent in SIN will only tag them through to MAD, and won't short check them only to LHR.

In my experience you can usually request they restrict any bag to (in this case) Heathrow..the staff in Singapore might find it odd, especially if it is not a long connection between flights, but it is your bag

I did the same HKG-LHR-MAN.

Asked for my bag in LHR and it was no problem.

How long is your layover in LHR?
Let's fly! Unless it's on a CRJ 200, then I'll stay down here.

Some out stations actively refuse to short check bags so always a chance you can get caught out! Best advice for MR is a 19-21 hours between flights or the last segment out of LCY meaning impossible to through check anyway.

The good news is I'm only travelling with my small carry on so no checked bags. On arrival back at LHR i'm out of the airport - thanks guys.

@theobcman: careful, if you do this enough times, BA might punish you: http://roadwarriorvoices.com/2015/07...-traveling-on-hidden-city-tickets/

That´s surprising, I did this earlier this year and didn't receive any miles...

Routing was CPH-LHR-MIA/FLL-PHL-LHR-OSL, all on BA except FLL-PHL on US.
