Connecting In SNA

Hi I was looking at booking a flight from SFO-MEX. The cheapest option I have seen is on Southwest, SFO-SNA-MEX.
The connection time in SNA is 90 minutes, both in- and outbound.
I will be checking in 1 piece luggage.
My question, is will 90 minutes be enough time for the connection? And will I have to collect the luggage and re-check it in, and if so, is 90 mins still enough?
Thanks for any help!

Yes you will have to collect and recheck your bag when clearing FIS.

The FIS area is tiny in SNA and you will be the only flight there so yes 90 minutes is quite doable.

I think the OP is asking about the other direction, SFO-SNA-MEX. While your answer is correct for the return, the OP should be fine on the outbound without having to leave security. Bags can be checked through, and he won't need to collect them until he gets to MEX.

SNA/John Wayne is a great airport. I flew out of there in December with my mom, who is 78, and normally needs wheelchair assistance to get to the gate. She was able to walk from check-in, through security and to the gate with no problems at all. It is all contained in one concourse past security. John Wayne is a beautiful airport, and even though I live on the other side of LA, I often make the longer drive down there, instead of my closer airport (LAX), because of the ease of the facilities.

90 minutes in SNA is enough to get a bite to eat, walk up and down the terminal 6 times, and still have time for a power nap. SNA is the easiest airport on the planet.
