Your Experience(s) With Air Europa Long Haul

Wed Jan 27, 2016 9:56 pm

Hi there,

I'm about to book a ticket to Bolivia, and was wondering: what is Air Europa (UX) like?
I mean cabin comfort, entertainment, etc...
Routing MAD-VVI and return.

Seat selection is upon payment, I heard, but could not find anything on their website (which does not give more info than the very very basics, even less...).
Anyone knows about the prices for seat selection?

Thanks for your thoughts/experiences.

A friend of mine flew Air Europa from Madrid to Cancun last summer. He wasn't impressed in terms of comfort, service, food, or entertainment. It was an all economy class A330 I believe. I don't have any other details, but I know he considered his outbound flight (Cancun to London on Thomas Cook) to be much better. Sounds like UX was extremely basic.

I can tell you from experience that even their business class (Ejecutiva) leaves ALOT to be desired. One cannot select seats until check in (October 2015), access to lounges is problematic or non-existent. Long haul the seating is acceptable, but the IFE might as well not be there. Shorthaul, the only difference between Air Europa and an LCC was the "Sandwich" (aka stone age weapon), and the magasine on offer.

HOWEVER, given that I saved over €1400 on a LIS-NYC-LIS I am loathe to complain! As always, when you fly cheap, you pay later
I wish there was still a flying boat service on the African Lakes!

Hi

I flew UX MAD-MVD and back about a year ago. I would define it as very basic. The comfort is so-so, there were not personal screens, just central overhead ones with 2-3 movies during the flight. The food was inedible, so take your own sandwiches. The service was basically OK, but barely OK.
We could not select seats until check-in.
All in all, a cheaper ticket and a means to get from A to B. Not terrible, but nothing to write home about....

Finally flight is booked, as UX is the only one fliyng to VVI (unless taking several connecting flights, which I prefer not to).
Flights operated by A330-200.
How big are my chances to have one with personal IFE? How many are equipped with it?

Thanks for your info.

I didn't even know Air Europa flew to VVI.

Boliviana flies MAD-VVI and they codeshare with IB; so I find surprising that you could not book BRU-MAD-VVI. Not sure though that Boliviana would be any better than UX!

I know, but:
I have fixed dates (travelling for my work)
Fare was much higher (if I would have been able to leave earlier)

And indeed, probably wouldn't be better tha UX...

Very, very low - all the "better" ones doing the premium markets with high competition, like USA.
However, all A330's will be reconfigured within the coming month: http://www.srtechnics.com/datas/news...0Cabin%20Modifications_E_final.pdf

How many have to be reconfig'd still?
"within the coming month" seems incredibly fast...

Well, I suppose I'd better count on a couple books or a tablet...
I'll survive this 1st world problem.

They have a decent J class product for the price they charge on the MAD-VVI-MAD run.

I read negative reports, but personal experience is that it´s worth the extra buck, specially considering that options via GRU cost nearly twice.

Nowadays you have daily flights MAD-Bolivia, 3-4 x a week with UX always to VVI, and around same frequency - never same days (I heard to be increased to 6x weekly soon) with OB (Boliviana de Aviacion), always VVI-MAD, and return flights are normally MAD-VVI but also 1xweekly MAD-CBB.

UX: A330 service;
OB: B763 services

Enjoy your stay in Bolivia, 330lover - the flight´s the least, the stay should be the best!

Flew this airline , Y class from SSA-MAD-ORY (R/T). Awful at best or non-existent service for most of the flights. Worn out A 330. Stay away...
