Making a booking on Air France website is an annoying experience ...
I wanted to fly from Norway to New York (via Paris ), but their booking engine only shows options with KLM and / or Delta ... No Air France flights ... NONE !
Why is that ? I mean, it's the Air France website ... Says Air France with big bold letters on top of the page ...
I know ofcourse that KLM/Air France and Delta is cooperating, however Air France seems to be left out as an option ... Annoying ...

I tried the same by using the .no web site, random dates, found at least one option via CDG with AF:

Thanx, but not everyone in Norway lives in Oslo ... From where I live it's all KLM and Delta ...

OK, I read your post poorly. If you live outside Oslo(and want avoid going via OSL), then connections via AMS are better? KLM of flies to many places in Norway. Can't remember if AF/HOP fly to other cities than OSL.

Because KLM flies to my city and one would think that KLM and AF cooperated to the point that if I wanted to do the extra segment from AMS to CDG and then New York, I would find it somewhere on their site ... No such luck ...

Maybe they dont have any filed fares for XXX-AMS-CDG-JFK starting from your city. Might be better for AFKL to send you via AMS instead of you as a connecting pax occupy a seat on CDG-JFK which has a higher OD compared to AMS-JFK.

Virtually no demand for that type of 3-way connection. They don't want to fill 3 flights with a through passenger when they can generate much more revenue by selling those 3 sectors to 3 separate passengers. That's not unique to AF/KL. When there are many much more convenient connections via AMS, why would you even want to add the extra time and inconvenience to add a 3rd sector with increased possibilities of delays, lost bags, the frequent strikes in France etc etc.?

Because I am an aviation enthusiast and want to try as many airlines and aircraft as possible ..... Sorry, I thought that was the general view here on the forum ...

If you want more connections try to add somerhing on the US side. Have flown many such routes between ARN-LAX.
My best to date I was able to get is
ARN-LHR-ORD-CMH-DFW-LAX. You should have seen the reaction of the check in agent at ARN.
I have also flown many combinations of 4 flights such as
ARN-LHR-PHL-DFW-LAX
ARN-AMS-BOS-DTW-LAX
ARN-CDG-SFO-SLC-BUR
LAX-SAN-MSP-AMS-ARN
LAX-AUS-DFW-LHR-ARN

The website is going to show the most optimal routes for people. If it was programmed to show all possible routings, you can imagine how many flight combinations the average person would have to sift through.

There's nothing wrong with that. You just need to call AF to price your trip, or book it as a multicity, or buy separate tickets to force the connection via CDG.

That is the only way if you want to force more connections than the usual 1 or 2 stop itineraries.

You need to tick the "aviation enthusiast" box on the search page. They will then route you through numerous stops with long layovers.
Do not compensate for the lack of skills with a surplus of opinion.

Yeah, seriously. While I understand that we all like flying here... Why should the website show you a "shittier" flight (in most people's opinion, anyway)?
An "aviation enthusiast" box would be great. Perhaps ro1960 can talk to AF corporate to include one.

Whenever I want to find an itinerary with more stops I book it as multiple destinations. That is the only way to pull up such flights. For instance, when I flew ARN-LHR-ORD-CMH-DFW-LAX I searched it as ARN-CMH and CMH-LAX. Surprisingly the fare was not more expensive than a straight forward ARN-LHR-LAX itinerary.
