I need your input and specs for the JT8D engines on the MD80 and Super 727.
I collect 1:400 aircraft models, and am in the process of converting a regular 1:400 B727 to a Super 727. To do this, I need to swap the #1 and #3 JT8D-100 engines with JT8D-200 engines from the MD80. I need a 1:400 MD80 to serve as a donor model.
The problem is that only two "model manufacturers" make the MD80 in 1:400, but the engines aren't the same size. Either one of the model manufacturers messed up, or they both did. I need your help picking the correct one.
I'm posting this in the tech/ops section because I'm looking for actual real-life dimensions of both the JT8D-100 engines (for the 727) as well as dimensions for the JT8D-200 engines of the MD80. I was able to google "fan diameter" but not the actual cowling diameter. I also can't find length dimensions from cowling-reverser bucket. Can you guys help me with that info?
Here are some pictures comparing the two model manufacturers' renditions of the DC9-51, and MD-80, compared to images of the real thing. The DC9-51 engines are of the correct scaled size and it's used for reference.
Which manufacturer (GeminiJets, or JET-X) do you think has the correct JT8D-200 engine size? I feel like the GeminiJets model is WAY too wide, while the Jet-X is too short.

What do you think? Can you guys help me find actual engine dimensions so I can simply divide by 400 and measure it? ANY and all input is appreciated!!
