Ryanair arrivals bus transfer at Stansted

Sun Jan 29, 2017 8:08 pm

Hi,

Apologies if this question has already been posted but I could not find a relevant topic.

I regularly fly Dublin-Stansted with Ryanair and for every arrival the passengers are ferried to the terminal via a shuttle bus, even if the plane is parked at a gate. Does anyone know the reason why? Is it that the terminal gates just can't accept passenger arrivals, and only departures?

Thanks in advance,

Not sure. But at EDI there are only a few stands that can be used for flights to NI or ROI. These gates have cameras and use specific security procedures due to the history of "the troubles" etc. All arrivals also go through a specific door for the same reason. I'd imagine it's for this reason that you have to go a specific arrival area.

It's for that very reason. There are very few gates at Stansted that can accept domestic/CTA arrivals. All gates on Satellite 3 (exclusive to Ryanair) can only handle International arrivals. I suppose they prefer to coach passengers to the domestic arrivals channel rather use another gate.

Yes, satellites 1 and 3 can only handle international arrivals, and in satellite 2 there are only a few domestic (and Ireland) arrival gates, with the others being international also.

Anyways, sorry for restarting this topic.
