Open doors on stored aircraft

Sun Oct 15, 2017 4:24 am

I noticed that in majority of the photos for stored Delta aircraft all seem to have just one open door. The parked 747s are the perfect example while no other aircraft in the lineup have open doors. I know it’s a random question and I apologize in advane but I’m just super curious!

Would you mind linking some of the pictures you are talking about?

Helps keep down mold. The Kansas Aviation Museum did open cockpit days (probably still do), and I went on their Beech Starship that had been closed up for a while. Smelled pretty bad, and there was mold on the carpet. Got to keep air moving inside.

I understand about keeping air circulating inside the fuselage, but keeping a door open seems like it would make the plane a very inviting place for bats to congregate or for hornets/wasps/bees, etc. to make nests -- out of the weather and away from predators.

That's what smoke /pesticide is for.
