NCE pushback direction question

I have a question about the pushback direction at NCE T2. It's not the first time that I notice the aircraft are pushed back in the opposite direction of the runway.

To be be more precise:

Runway 04L is in operation.
Access to 04L can be via TWY T and A.
The AH 737 is pushed back in front of TWY B forcing to go around via TWY C and U to reach 04L.

I've seen that many times. It would make more senses to push back in the other direction and reach 04L via T + A.
This seems counterproductive but I'm sure there is a reason. Can someone explain? Thanks.

It seems to me that there might be a one way system of sorts with northeast-bound traffic on tango and southwest-bound on uniform. Keeping it consistent.

There is no one-way going on on Tango as aircraft arriving use the NE-SW direction to park at the gates.

There's been maintenance going on during all winter, and only one RWY has been in use. Probably doesn't answer your question, but I took my binoculars and checked what's going on right now. 22 in use (the inner one only 04L/22R). Push backs I saw were EZY so you could not conclude anything from that. Tango was used both ways. But if HS2 is used for take off from 04L, the push back that way would be logical, no? But I guess the B737 in your image followed Swiss? Just a while a ago, Wizz Air used the HS3 intersection for T/O, suggesting light loads :smile:

HS2 was use by a (probably lightly loaded EZY A320) but all other flights including the AH one in my photo used HS1. I don't think it is unusual as I had noticed that before but only now decided to post about it.
