Airbus A350 Toilet Issue

Thu Jul 05, 2018 7:25 am

I have in the past few weeks, flew several time long haul on CX A359 and every times, the center toilet in the main economy session has a broken out of service sign on it. It is not affecting operation as there is four toilets in that area but I wonder why CX A359 has such a high toilet malfunction rate. I knew A350 delivery was delivered due to this toilet issue, at least partially but is there something people can tell me? Poor maintenance or design issue with the plumbing etc. It is very sad to see new plane with such toilet issues.

Hi: IMHO,:
Very poor design
System not loved by Mx to work on it. Mx Computers do not help to much when there is a Malfunction, to Trouble shoot and determine action or Part u/s
Handling People who service system do not have, technical preparation and time to service well system
Airbus had not pay attention to multiples complaints, pointed always to operators and deniend that radical rebuilding is needed.
(Boeing 767-747-777, same principle, almost no operational problems, if some one know, it will be interesting to know lines from toilets to tanks diameters and Vacum pressure for both manufacturers)

Other way to understand, system was designed by “Souflé -eating” people and exploited by “Hamberguer-Eating one’s’. (Comon joke on the Ramps)

Some companies dedicate extra resources, with specially trained Mex and Handling. They clean systems with dry Ice more frequently than regular needed and in case of faults, t/s and replace items on the spot, thus having a much better reliability.

Obviously written by someone who has never set foot inside an A350.

As far as the OPs question, could I suggest it may have been the same aircraft. I am not aware of any issue with that location across the fleet.

OT, but I once had a out-of-service sign on the 2L lav on a 75. A 6 hour flight. Got a peek in and it was loaded with FA luggage.

It could have been actually out of service, and thus a convenient luggage location.

Zeke, Good Morning.
Yes You are right, never had been even close to an A350, my experience giving Line Mx to Airbus limit to
Aerolineas A310
Air France A-320
LTU (Now Air Berlin), A330, Alitalia
Iberia, Air France, Aerolíneas, A340.

I talk about my partners’ and mine experiences on those Planes.
I have ATA 104 Level III formation on A:320; 330, 340
Fam on A310

Any introduction to A350, will be welcomed, even for an ATA 38-30...

The four “issues” I am aware of with A350s lavatories are the mirror cracking due to normal fuselage movement, soap dispenser not working, the indicator outside the door not going from green to red to show it is in use, and the light not coming on when the door is locked.

Typical minor quirks with a new type which are being dealt with.

Hi:
Does Airbus introduced modifications on A-350 Toilets?
May they be escalated up and down for A330/A320?

I thought this was part of the well-publicized Zodiac issues on A350? Is to be expected... but it will get better. Safran bought Zodiac, inherited all their sh.. I mean, portfolio.
Also, fair's fair, the Japanese supplier of lavatories for 787 had problems at entry into service too.
