LEAP-1A vs LEAP-1B Commonality

Tue Sep 25, 2018 6:20 pm

What is the spare part commonality between a LEAP-1A (A320NEO family) and LEAP-1B (B737MAX)? Is the engine core similar between the -1A and -1B?

Thanks,

IDK about part interchangeability (no access to IPC's) however the fan, LP turbine and bypass ratio appear to be different for the 2 engines. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CFM_International_LEAP

Similar, yes, but interchangeable, no.
But it's not really an issue; the core components aren't things that you end up frequently replacing. Operators don't really care much whether the turbine blades are interchangeable between their 737NG fleet and their A320-21Xceo fleet.
You CAN expect some interchangeability, however, in some more useful areas: it's highly likely that the EEC is an identical part number. As I recall, GE uses the same EEC across several different engines. The same EEC that controls the CFM56-7B/E is, as I recall, also used for the 777 GE90, and some CF6 models.
You could also expect some accessory components to be interchangeable, like the EEC alternator, perhaps an IDG, fuel pumps, hydraulic pumps, etc.
And a lot of the sensors will be the same as well.

I hope that information is valuable in answering your question!
