Trent 700 end of production?

Sat Dec 01, 2018 1:38 am

An article on MRO Network states that Rolls-Royce is considering ending production of the Trent 700 engines in 2020. Does anyone have any words on ending the production?

They must have a reasonable idea of how many 330-x43 are left to be built and how many engines will be needed to support the operation of the worldwide fleet until eventual retirement.

Is the Trent 800 still being produced, by the way?

One thing that I can't get off my mind is a re-engine of the An-225 with Trent 556 engines (the same engines as on the Airbus A346).

I personally wish they'd find another airplane to use the Trent 500 on.

Or an An-225 with six Trent 895?

There is a couple of A330 tankers on order. For which engine are they going?

They are all RR so far. Only Iberia /Level were GE CF6 in the last time.
Beluga XXL and the China ceo are also RR.

Is this just a typo or will there be an even larger Beluga?

Well, if you look to replace D-18T with a Trent 556, why shoot directly for An-225, a singular airplane.

If you want a business case, and have plenty of Trent 556 engines in stock, why not start with An-124? Russia has plenty; some in commercial use by Volga-Dnepr, some in military use.

Engines of Volga-Dnepr birds, if VD behave themselves, have a chance of getting proper OEM support from Ukraine.

Russian military -- no dice. If you offer them a sanction-proof reengine program, they'll jump on it. But, as RR is a British company, probably no chance of a sanction-proof reengine program.
