Business jets - what is the difference in design guidelines or regulations in the numbers of exit doors?

Fri Jun 28, 2019 1:03 am

Looking at recent business jets,

Gulfstreams have 1 main door + 4 smaller fuselage window exits + 1 cargo door
Falcon's have 1 main door, 1 fuselage window exit and 1 cargo door

All in aircrafts of similar size

thanks

The Gulfsteam has a lot of grandfathering on their exits. The Falcon and Challenger / Global are built to more modern standard with the main and emergency exit. The baggage for doesn’t count as an exit.

For current standard, see FAR 25.807

The new Gulfstreams with square-ish window exits were able to show an Equivalent Level of Safety through testing.
