Engine run up and taxi for mainteinance people

Tue Aug 06, 2019 3:25 am

I want to know if some type of license for the instructor is required to provide engine run up and taxi on an FSTD device, for the technical staff and if apply any regulation.

Thanks.

You will probably need to specify country, regulating authority and operator if you want an answer that means anything to you.

Having been a field instructor (for maintenance) on the B747, I can tell you I went through a class offered by my employer, and followed the guidelines of our GMM & GOM, along with the specific sections of the AMM.

The only FAA regulation I know of would be the one that governs our various manuals...loosely, write what you do, do what you write.

Unless it's expressly prohibited, it's allowed.

No license where I am. In order to checkout someone you have to be a designee. It can either be a training instructor or a qualified AMT, depending on weather it's an initial or a requal. This can and does change.
