Could Aeromexico be rebranded to Delta Mexico?

Sat Nov 30, 2019 11:01 am

I was just wondering seeing as Delta increased it's share on Aeromexico, well, if, and I know this is a big if, Delta could buy off Aeromexico, could, would and should they rename it to Delta Mexico (like all the Aviancas and Latams?) What's your take on this?

Because, brand-wise, Mexicans are so much into Delta? Hard to believe...
Enslave yourself to the divine disguised as salvation
that your bought with your sacrifice
Deception justified for your holy design
High on our platform spewing out your crimes
from the altar of god

One benefit of JVs and owning shares is that you can use the brand in markets where you aren’t as strong. DL has US POS strength and AM has MX point of sale.

Becoming Delta México or Delta UK in the case of Virgin isn’t beneficial. Anybody who gives real money to DL already knows about the JVs.
Look at sweatpants guy. This is a 90 million dollar aircraft, not a Tallahassee strip club

The Delta pilots have negotiated protections as to the use of the Delta brand (and DL codes) on aircraft not flown by Delta pilots. The most visible example of this negotiated protection is via the Scope clause used to define “regional flying” vs “mainline” and more recently in JV production balances between the DL/KE and DL/AF/KE/VS JVs. The point being, it is very unlikely that Aeromexico could be rebranded as “Delta Mexico” “Delta Sud” or even “Delta” without large structural changes to the organization and/or the delta pilot contract.

What is "wrong" with the AeroMexico brand in the eyes of the populace that would require such a move?

I don't know...what was wrong with the LACSA brand or the Aires one? I'm not sure but those airlines were re-branded.
