Are there any B747Fs at VCV, MHV, etc.?

Wed Jan 08, 2020 7:59 pm

Are there any retired B747Fs (including BCFs and other conversions) at the boneyards that aren't cannibalized?
I recall an article in ATW or ACW (can't find it now) that there are no freight Queens in storage that aren't being cannibalized.
Different story for MD11Fs, but wondering if there are enough cycles in the Queen fleet to bridge that gap until B777Fs (built or converted) hit the "regeneration" market.

Enough frames, not enough engines. We do CF6 overhauls in-house and still have to fly with loaners.

IIRC 4 engines are now worth more without the aircraft attached to them than with.

Wow... that explains it... all the freighter Queens are cannibalized.

Even all the pax frames, for the engines?

Arent the 2 remaining CI 744Fs stored "uncannabilized", they just reactivated one and sold it after storage since early this decade.
