Out of desperation.....started the topic...soon drifted into 737 max lights, 787 lights, city street lights, evolution of LED's, all without a definitive answer....frustration set in and reached to "the source". Lot of times this forum is excellent if people can stick to the point, this one time it did not quite come up to expectations.

Forgot to add,,I know I was not seeing things when myself and other members did not see the upper beacon light and here you are saying there is an upper beacon light. Granted, there might be provisions for the light, but it wasn't flashing during the test flights.

Is it possible that there is some type of test sensor fitted in place of the beacon?

Photo evidence of the top beacon light in the 2nd 777X, supports the earlier claim of there being a sensor on the first aircraft in place of it

Tell you what. i'll send an email to the 777X Chief Pilot and ask him for an explanation. No promise that he will take the time to answer as emails are probably a dirty word these daysI

No reply yet as this would have to pass through a couple of folks prior. I would imagine that he has a couple of hundred unanswered emails at any one time and this would be at the very bottom of the list. Easier to ask someone else to verbally ask him but with so many staff working from home that is a slow process at best.

CALTECH....Personally, I thank you for showing proof in your pics. Someone (We know who) got called out on their smart ass comments about the upper beacon light flashing on the 777-9 first flight. In this forum on knowledgeable aviation enthusiasts, we knew we did not see that light flash... .......one and his comments to several members irked me and others to verify this. As fact turned out...he was wrong, so he wants to maintain his pride. We have to wait for the 777-9 chief pilot to reply (That is pending if the email was ever sent in the first place).....I can already sense the moderators getting an email to lock out this thread, especially since his "Ego" was hurt!!!!
