Do any airlines use aft-wing exit on the 739?

Fri Mar 06, 2020 3:24 am

Title hopefully self-explanatory. It’s pretty clear from an exterior view that there’s an option for an exit door just behind the wing on the 737-900, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a door there. It’s usuall just a plug.

I assume you mean the 737-900ER since the 737-900 doesn't even have the cutout for the door and is limited to 189 passengers. As far as the 737-900ER is concerned, any airline that's sticking more than 189 passengers in the plane would have to have that door, so if anyone's using a single-class configuration, they would need it. Think Lion Air.

Hypothetically if UA or any other airline purchased an ex Lionair -900ER, would they be able to remove that aft exit door and install the plug?
