Fokker 60 questions

I came across a photo of the rare Fokker 60 today, which got me interested in the details about this variant of the Fokker 27 family. Curiously, there is very little to be found about this type on the internet. A stretched version of the Fokker 50, it first flew in the autumn of 1995, with only 4 aircraft built for the Dutch AF that were later sold to Peru. Fokker went bankrupt in 1996, putting an end to the Fokker 50 and 60.

Was it ever offered for the civilian market or was this a one-off military variant? Wikipedia vaguely suggests that there were another 60 on order, but provides no links. Did any airlines order it?

What would the seating capacity have been in an airliner configuration?

Did it have the same PW125 engines as the Fokker 50, or was it a different version?

What was the fuel consumption and cruise speed? MTOM?

How would it have compared with the ATR 72-500 and Q400?

I think the translation is a bit off. It's not another 60 that where under construction, it's a single F60 that was under construction when Fokker closed. If I recall correctly just a single fuselage, no wings, gear, electronics etc.

I don't think Fokker got around to getting the F60 certified for commercial operations, but the intentions where certainly there. Had Fokker been saved the F60 would have been offered to airlines as well.

The F60 had PW127B engines,
Empty weight 13.375 KG, MTOW 21.950 or 22.950 depending on source.
Cruise speed 472 KM/H

The production 60 was a modification of the 1990 proposal for the civil 50-400 with 62 seats, basic design work had already been done and filed away. But for some reason they didn't see the market need for that type at that time.

What's not often mentioned is that Fokker had agreed to pay the Dutch government a royalty of NLG250,000 for each of the subsequent 12 export 60s built... so someone was hopeful of further military sales.

Whereas originally the 60 was to be a 'hub-raider' twin-turbofan variant, a stretched 50 fuselage with swept wing and T-tail.

I have never heard anything about this proposal. Have you got some more details? Maybe a drawing, model or mock-up?

The Fokker F60 was officially the Model 0604. It was originally civil-certified under DGAC Type Certificate T-050-87. Upon the creation of EASA, this became EASA TCDS EASA.A.036. In addition, the F60 was military-certified in the Netherlands under KLu TCDS Number 4.
