Landing south at MCO was a moderate risk approach at a former employer precisely due to the requirement to cross ORL VOR and then invariably following by attacking the glide slope from above.

The approaches to 22L and 4R at EWR have published circling minimums, so you can use those to fly a circling approach to 29. Nothing fancy about that.

Assuming circling, as opposed to visual, is authorized below 1500-3.

Our company doesn’t allow circling approaches anymore. Visual approach minimums are 3000’ AGL or IAF altitude and 3sm visibility.

Hey guys,

You have not answered the most important question though, are you a French Canadian ?

But seriously, having spent a good deal of time camped out at Maho, I can't think of a time where I have seen anything land on 28, let alone a 737.

Has anyone ever landed on 28 with an airliner before?

No but I took off toward the water in a USAir to Charlotte in 2009. We waited some 30 minutes for the incoming traffic to clear before taking off. Must have been very heavy. The captain did not think he could clear the hills in the normal direction. I had a middle seat and the person occupying the window would not raise the shade for me to look out during the take off.

Taking off on rwy 28 (towards the water) is preferred due to no obstacles on departure however ATC can rarely accommodate due to landing traffic on rwy 10.

It’s a surprisingly busy airport during the winter months.

I’m not French Canadian but I’ve dated many having grown up in Quebec.
