Some of the Cessna 560 Citations used by the U.S. Army and Marine Corps have an oversize cabin door like so:
I was wondering two things: first, what kind of missions are they doing with these business jets that need a cargo door like this? And second, was this ever offered as an option to civilian Citation V customers?

I have a couple of extremely uneducated guesses:1. Mission is most likely VIP. Have you ever seen the size of the ego on some (clearly not all) Generals?
2. The size of the door may be due to the size of the duffle bags that are needed to be carried into the cabin should they not all fit into the baggage compartments.
As I said, very uneducated guesses.

When I was stationed in Okinawa in the late 90s we would occasionally use the station UC-12 or UC-35 to "courier" a part. Also had to make trips to Atsugi a couple times to test an aircraft leaving Depot repair which required hauling a plethora of test equipment. Larger door definitely easier to load things thru. I honestly dont remember the door on the UC-35, I know the King Airs had a large cargo door.
