I'm not familiar with the Aviation industry but am doing some research work on aircraft leasing companies. This is specifically pertaining to AerCap buying GECAS. Hoping to extract some expertise here to assess the financial / strategic ramifications of this deal and how the combined company would perform.
Love to have anyone share thoughts on the commercial aircraft leasing rates going forward. AerCap had a leasing rate of 10.1% in 2020 (lease income / average lease asset). What kind of rates would we be looking at for 2021/2022 and beyond? How do I even go about projecting lease rates and what should my thought process even be in coming up with an educated guess on lease rate outlook?
Lastly, any general thoughts on how a GECAS + AerCap would impact the leasing industry, or general thoughts on the combined company or if the deal would even go through would be greatly appreciated.

The leasing market is so fragmented, I'm not sure the merger will impact rates much. I think this is more reducing overhead (more aircraft serviced per person at the companies). I can only speculate as the the leasing rate.
