Question about 737 BBJ2.

Mon Sep 06, 2021 6:39 am

Hello, I am curious if anyone knows what the takeoff distance for the 737 BBJ2 is when close to max weight? I know it is based on -800 which according to Wikipedia has a takeoff run of 7600ft, but of course with AUX fuel tanks it can hold much more fuel. It looks like the OEW is much higher for the BBJ compared to the 700, so I would assume the same is true for the BBJ2, but I don't know how much.

Also, is the ETOPS the same for the BBJ 2 as the 800?

Thanks

Gross weight is gross weight—fuel or pax doesn’t matter. It’s probably pretty close to 7600’. I know when GE CAT operated them, they could depart KBDR and non-stop to EGGW or EGSS. 4800’ at KBDR. OEW is high, but TOGW is similar to highest TOGE for airline configured 738. ETOPS is the same, but the operating rules for private ops may differ.

Part 91 requires no ETOPS. Part 135 only requires ETOPS if an ETP exceeds 180 minutes.

Thank you for the info. Are you saying the OEW for the BBJ2 is higher than the airline version?

The reason I asked about ETOPS was because I want to do a flight in my flight sim with it from Los Angeles to Queenstown or Auckland NZ which should be in range with minimal payload weight. I am simulating flights if I personally owned my own 737 which should fall into part 91.

It is, but I don’t numbers. Full galleys, additional water storage, beds, etc add up. A BBJ might fall under 125 in the US, but most operators voluntarily apply some of ETOPS rules.

What is the fuel capacity of this aircraft?

Depends on the number of aux tanks, but Boeing’s website (hint) has capacitor of 10,470 USG, convert to pounds at your favorite fuel density.
