Last night, I was on my second-ever A320 family neo aircraft. Both trips, one on a BA A20N and the other on an AS A21N, saw takeoffs during the dark. In both cases, the cabin crew left the cabin lights fully on, like very bright. The AS A21N landing was also at night, and the lights were on for the night landing too.
Both those trips I also had night takeoffs on another aircraft (a BA A380 and a DL 763, respectively) and the cabin lights were off for those night takeoffs and landings.
I was under the impression that cabin lights had to be dimmed or entirely out especially for night takeoffs and landings for safety reasons. Are neos exempt from this, or is it just a coincidence and both crews forgot to dim the lights for takeoff and landing in these situations?
