Maintenance Coffee Maker and Boiler

Wed Sep 07, 2022 8:38 am

Hello!
I am interested in maintenance of galley equipment, such as Coffee Maker and Boiler.
I have a question: "How does the approved organization do it?"
What does that require?
Maybe someone has a photo of the equipment or any documentation, share pls.

I believe that for this it is necessary to have a stand for the test.. or another equpment...
Pls help.

You'd repair it with the CMM. But that's proprietary information so nothing that would (should) be floating around the web.

It's just like every other aircraft component. The organization; airline, MRO, repair shop, needs authority from the maker of the said component for repair. The manufacturer then allows the repairer access to the CMM. The CMM typically gives a parts breakdown, wiring diagrams, and any info that is needed for repair and test of the component.

When I was still working the passenger side of the business I lost count of the number of coffee makers I changed or re-racked.

Large airlines usually do coffee make maintenance in-house. They get rotated in and out of service often enough that even some small carriers do the work in-house. Dedicated shops are used, usually employing unlicensed mechanics, with all the test equipment, parts and documentation to do the work.

You run it until it breaks, place it on MEL, and do nothing until the MEL drops dead.

You MEL it, and then replace it the next day when the part arrives from the Shop. It's a Cat D 120 Day item, but for the Pilots it's more important than literally anything else :)
