Does anyone know what aircraft model types use the following containers?

LD3
LD4

The big airliners, like the 747, 777, etc. use LD3. Sorry I can't help anymore. I've only heard of LD3. Can anyone explain the characteristics of the other containers?

Here's the answer to your question Tom
LD1: 747 side-by-side loading
LD3: 747,777,A310,A300,A330,A340 side-by-side Loading, and 767 single row loading
LD4: 767 full-width container with rectangular contour
LD6: 767 full-width contoured container
Note: All wide body aircraft can load a single row of LD1 containers. There are also LD2 half-width containers for 767 side-by-side loading and any other widebody aircraft can load 2 LD2's side-by-side with the contoured sides facing inwards.
