Puff Of White Smoke From APU Of A320 Family?

Mon Oct 14, 2002 2:39 pm

What is that little white puff of smoke that occasionally comes out of the APU exhaust of the A319/20/21's? I have seen it many times during the taxi stage and it's the strangest thing! Reminds me of a train!  Smile Anybody??

My guess is unburned fuel being expelled during shutdown.

Steam of unburned fuel for sure. But I would rather guess that it's during APU startup instead of during shutdown.
Always keep your number of landings equal to your number of take-offs
