I don't know specifically how an aircraft is painted first hand, but with the exception of the rudder which must be balanced before installation, it appears the painters start pretty much wherever they feel. Normally when I see a nose cone or nacelle, returned from repair, it is painted white, and flies that way for some time, until the airplane is down long enough for paint. Typically the painter will come out and mask the part on wing, then we (mechanics) will remove it and send it to the paint booth.
Very common if the dimensions arn't right then whenever the Radome is replaced, there is a chance of mismatch depending on the Design. However if its a temp replacement the original would be installed back soon to normalize the situation else,The paint job would be done soon.

I may not win often, but I damn well never lose!!!
Don't ask me why the -400 is so much lower then on the -200QC....Maybe to hide the door line
The reason why the -200s are higher is because if you put the titles on the -200 the same way the -400s are wearing them, you cant put "Alaska" on it completely...thats why they were raised to enable the aircraft to wear the "Alaska". The wing would block a part of the "Alaska" title... Does that make sense??
