Explain the B752 Integral Inflation valve Pressure Gauge.

What's to explain? It is a stem mounted gage that has 3 color bands: Red, Yellow, and Green.

We use them only on our through flights. We will use a tire pressure gage on all other checks.

Anything in the yellow or red requires a tire pressure gage to confirm the reading.

They do not have any pressure indications except for the colors.

And no, I don't have pictures.

Mel,

It's not that they are unreliable, but they only show a range of pressure. The green band only indicates that the tire is at its rated pressure, not the actual pressure. The yellow band tells you that the tire may be in need of servicing, it does not tell you how much.

I should also tell you that we have been removing all our indocator stems because we determined a lot of mechanics were jsut using the indicators and not performing the prerssure checks with the gage when required.

At DL the 57 doesn't have the indicator stems but the 738 does. It just depends on the airline.

I have seen these gauges on varying A/C. It is not specific to an aircraft type. I found them to be a hassle because flt. crews would insist that mx. be called if "it isn't in the green band" When I was contract, this was an easy money maker, when I worked direct, what a pain!

But if the Indicators are reliable,then if its not in the Green band.It would need Recharging.

There you have it. The indicators are not as reliable as we would like them to be. They are mechanical devices subject to extreme mechanical stresses. The ones I know about aren't even temperature compensated.

They are (were) basically used as reference devices. The flight crews treated them as the gospel.

That makes sense then.So Mx double checks with a TPG with the Indicators shows a Doubt.
