Another gripe was "Cockpit door sticks inflight, OK on ground"... how might we figure out where the problem lies on that one?

Seriously though - How do Mechanics try to rectify problem which sometimes are not reproducible on the ground?

Problems which probably occur only in the air?

Are there even any sort of problems like these?

At an airline that I worked for in the past, we had the "Golden Pencil" award for the most ridiculous sign-off for a problem. Sometimes the problem was an airworthiness issue and then the sign-off could cause a serious problem, at other times the problem was relatively minor and the sign-off was more humorous.
On the light side was a write-up on a DC-9 that the captain's windshield wiper would not stow properly.
The corrective action was to remove ice from under the windshield wiper. Sounds OK, except that the write-up was in Miami in July.  Smile

-Dunno,since I didn´t see the entire thing, just the beginning and the final write off.Comment thought to be so funny though, that a copy was made, framed and hung upon the maintenance bulletin wall in their lunchroom where it still hangs to my knowledge.

Why do Pilots suggest what could be wrong.Leave that to Mx to troubleshoot.

I had a pilot write that he had to cycle the gear handle ten times to get the gear to retract. I found this mildly disturbing, since he had a passenger and their children aboard.
