B752 LG Doors Manual Operation

Thu Jul 09, 2009 9:51 am

Are there any B752s around that have a provision of Manually [By cable/handle] operating the Landing gear doors to open on ground.Similiar to the P72 used to lower the doors electrically.

Yes most of deltas 752's had the manual pull handle to open each door individually.

Funny thing, walked up to a NW 757 the other night. It was my my first overnight/line/layover whatever they callit check. I always walk left to right and as I went to open the door just aft of the left wheel well I found no service panel. The NW planes only have one, with no cable release. As an instructor once said, it is the same, only different. While we are on the subject of 757 MLG doors and the same but different aspect. It brings me to the very important point ot the 757 vs the same but very different 767. The 757 doors can piss you off if the move and you are in the way. The 767 door can KILL you if you are in the way when they move. They move from open to full closed LIKE NOW! Be very aware around them.

It's been a while but aren't/weren't the 69XX 757's the same too? I recall the panel on those being in an odd place with only a single electrical release.

Sorry MEL don't work on 757's anymore can't give you a panel number.

B752 Panel Next To P72 (by HAWK21M Nov 29 2008 in Tech Ops)

P80 which is under access panel 197LL on the left side of the fuselage opposite of the P72 which is under access panel 197RL. It contains the P80 which has the all doors open arm switch, the all doors open switch, and the main gear door close switch as well as the manual release lever for the left main gear door. There is no P72 on the 757-232. There is an access door at that location which provides access to the right main gear door release lever.

access panel 197LL

So P80 is mounted on access panel 197LL or panel 197RL.

There is def a P72 on the B752 aft of the pack door, holding the switches for the MLG/NLG doors manual extension,MLG doors retraction, the safety switch.
I'll try to get a pic if I can.

the video shows the P72 panel being accessed.

Hey MEL
Sorry. No pics, but I wanted to clarify something I said in an earlier post.

A 757-232 is a Delta spec 752 and it definitely has no P72. I can't speak for any other 752. I'm sure you are well aware of the many differences in one customer's aircraft to another's.
