What context are we talking about? There's a cockpit aural warning on Boeing's that could be described as "dreadle treadle" although I usually hear it called "deedle deedle".

Interesting; I hadn't seen this before. What they're proposing is the airport equivalent of traffic lights + redlight cameras. The treadle they're talking about is a pressure-sensitive device that detects when an aircraft rolls over it; if an aircraft has been cleared to cross it, everything proceeds normally. If nobody's been cleared to cross it, it squeals an alarm over VHF so "everyone" knows that somebody isn't where they're supposed to be.

I can think of lots of potential logistical problems with implementation, but none are insurmountable.

Honeywell seems to be a leader in runway incursion prevention with their RAAS, Smartrunway and Smartlanding systems.

I believe this system includes a screen in the tower which monitors all ground traffic live and issues warnings on any incursions.

We have it in the MD-11s. It alerts the crew when approaching a runway from any point, taxiway intersection, the end and inflight on short final. After touchdown it will alert the crew when 3000' is remaining on rollout and increments after that.
