### Missed Approach 2.5%

My understanding is that in Europe (OPS1) the Missed Approach climb gradient is 2.5% unless otherwise stated that it is higher. On this occasion we have higher MACG in our performance manual that we can check to see if we can accomplish these with our landing weight.

If 2.5% is normal why is it that we have a page for Go-around climb gradient (also called approach Climb Gradient) of 2.1%. It says for One engine out but so do all the other pages for both the 2.5% and the higher MACGs which of course is the important one as the aircraft has no problems on two engines.

Does anyone know the story behind this Go-around climb gradient (also called approach Climb Gradient) of 2.1%

2.1% is the net flight path gradient required, whereas 2.5% is the gross requirement.

Approach Climb gradient is calculated with one engine out in the approach configuration: gear down, approach flaps. FAR's require a minimum gradient of:

2.1% for 2 engine aircraft
2.4% for 3 engine aircraft
2.7% for 4 engine aircraft.

Perhaps 2.5% is a JAR OPS thing? I don't know about JAR OPS.

Landing Climb gradient is calculated in the landing configuration: all engines, gear down, full flaps.

FARs require following the most restrictive.
