Quoting jgw787 (Thread starter):

Something similar was done on the 777 where they farmed aircraft out to a number of operators to fly their aircraft as part of the certification process.

These flights will be conducted by Boeing, under the command of a Boeing test pilot, with the FAA registration on ZA002.

ANA crews to assist with the ground and flight duties, it will give them exposure to the type.

"Using the second flight test aircraft, known as ZA002, they will simulate in-service operations across several airports in Japan in a service ready operational validation. The validation is expected to take place the week of July 4. Anticipated city pairs include trips between Haneda Airport in Tokyo and airports in Osaka (Itami and Kansai), Okayama and Hiroshima."

Yep exactly the same was done with Lufthansa and the A380 where Airbus was the operator
There is one problem with airbus. Though their products are engineering marvels they lack passion, completely.

Seeing as the first 10 ANA pilots completed training earlier this month in Seattle, would they be on board at all during these flights? ZA001 was used to conduct two base training flights on May 25 with Boeing instructor pilots and ANA pilots on board. They're all qualified on the type now.

Interesting thing I've found here.

Didn't knew it was possible to make such thing of operation commercial flights as part of the certification process.

Very Cool!
