Airbus Working To Combat Laser Dazzling Of Pilots

Tue Jul 01, 2014 12:39 am

Here's a good short article on the Airbus.com website. They are working with partners to develop a window film that will guard pilots' eyes from laser dazzling from the ground without degrading cockpit visibility.

Or when human stupidity drives innovation.

Now if they could come up with a laser that shoots back at the sh#t for brains who can't find anything better to do with their sorry lives...
I'll do my own airline. With Blackjack. And hookers. In fact, forget the airline.

A concept similar to a HARM missile, a rocket following the laser beam back to it's origin!

You don't want to do that. You might damage something important on the ground. I like the idea of a laser powerful enough to blind that shoots right back. But that will never happen.

I'm pretty sure it was a joke.

laser that shoots back

I'm sure that, with a quick software tweak, this could be made to work pretty well.

Not a big Airbus fan but this is an outstanding idea. Idiots pointing lasers at aircraft are a real safety hazard.
The best contribution to safety is a competent Pilot.

And spray a flourescent dye over everything so they can tracked down easily and dealt with.
