They're on most, if not all aircraft types... from Bombardier and Embraer, to Airbus and Boeing. As Compliancecheck said, they're "Rainbow Lights" for the cabin crew. When you're a passenger, you'd normally notice a "bing bong" noise. When the cabin crew hear these, they look towards the rainbow lights to see what's happening.
IE, Toilet Smoke Alarm, Call from the Pilots etc.
