### Landing Fees - How Are They Calculated?

Good Afternoon, just a quick question as I've gotten conflicting answers. Are landing fees more often calculated on MTWO or max landing weight? I've seen both used at some large airports I've been checking - I was curious what the consensus is for which is used most? Or is there another sum or process at play that I am in the dark about? Thanks

I have only seen it based on MTOW. Charges could also depend on other factors such as time of day

Call me too practical but I would think that LANDING fees would be based on Max LANDING Weight, since you know...

But one could make an argument either way really...the plane also has to takeoff at some point, hence MTOW

Most US airports are based on landing weight. Things like national overflight charges though are most often based on MTOW.

Though besides landing weight, airports have a host of other user charges. From parking, to terminal, to utility, to per passenger, to rental fees etc...

Usually it is calculated on MTOW, but it is up to the airport.

Most take the MTOW calculation and some then apply surcharges for noise, time of day or aircraft size (relating to RFFS cover) whilst some offer a set fee per landing, plus any extras.

Generally, the simpler the better, whilst still protecting revenue.
