1) Checking the brakes involves determining what the brake energy absorbed on the brakes is. That will determine if the brakes will be treated as "hot brakes". That, in turn, determines where the aircraft is taxied to.
2) If the brakes are how, the last place you would park is a congested ramp area. The company, especially if it's a maintenance base, would then make arrangements to park the aircraft in a less congested area. The company would then arrange for fans to cool the brakes, if required. Airstairs would be arranged to get the passengers off the aircraft. Giving the company a "heads up" would also start the process of protecting the passengers if required or start the frill to get hotels and transport.
