Possible B727 Vintage Artifact?

Hi all:

Not sure if this is in the right section of the forum... but,

I found a possible 727 artifact in an estate sale and was hoping that someone on here could provide some information on it. If this artifact is significant, would it be something the museum of flight (who currently has the #1 727 on display) would like to have, and put on display with the airplane? I can imagine it behind the glass in the cockpit for everyone to see as they walk through. I would gladly donate it, if so.

It's a scale model of the aircraft with a stand, reading, "WorldTour 1963." It's about 1ft long.

Do you know what it might be? Is it genuine, vintage? If so, do you know who it might haven been given to? How many of these might be in existence? It reeks of vintage cigarette smoke... It SMELLS old.

Looks genuine. I haven't seen one of those since 1963. They were given to airport supervisors when the 727 went on its world tour, prior to entering scheduled commercial service. That is the original 1963 livery of the 727-100. That is very valuable, if I were you, I would keep it.

Just curious how you could have seen one in 1963? If the age in your profile is correct, you weren't even born until the 1980s.

I have seen the same model in various offices of the Boeing Company and I would thing there is some value to the collectors. Certainly would tale good care of it.

Seemed like a reasonable comment though.

I know airlines sometimes get models up to 5 feet long!

So here's an update. I found out some more info about who owned it before me. Anyone have thoughts as to how it might have gotten into civilian hands?

I also just realized that the tail number on it is N72700 which is the second 727 to be produced. Not the first. Do you know if the first 727, N7001U did the 1963 world tour? Did the second?

It was most recently in possession of a John (Giovanni Jr.) Grosso who worked in Boeing's T-3700 tooling division from 1941 to 1984. Apparently before that, he and a friend owned and operated a tool and cutter grinding business. He died in Feb of 2015. He had many other Boeing presentation models like this one.

Here are some more pictures of it. The globe is actually a cigarette lighter of some kind and splits open.
