Help Finding an Airliner Tail Number... from 2003

Sun Oct 30, 2016 7:01 pm

Hi there. I'm trying to track down the registration number of a flight I flew on back in 2003. I've tried the US DOT BTS site but, although I've found the flight, the registration number listed is erroneous (see below) so I'd need another source.

This was the first time I went to work with my dad; he was the first officer flying his final flight with TWA/American before getting furloughed. We have video from that day but the tail number unfortunately seems to escape every shot.

FLIGHT INFO:

American Airlines 2938
June 29, 2003
OKC-STL
Departed 5:25AM Central
MD-80

The issue with the BTS site is that it's showing all the ex-TWA flights on this day on this route with bogus numbers whereas all the other airlines have legit data. My guess is that paperwork etc was still being transferred to AA from TW after the merger, causing some reporting glitches. There is no N4UJTW, which is the reg number that it's telling me.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for your help!

Nick

4UJ is the fleet number- I've noticed it often does that with other AA flights, as well (probably to do with how they're reported). According to Planespotters, that one would've been N940AS:
